Balls (689kB)
I had made a study of tiling balls with different shaped patches. This animation has three balls: one tiled with three-sided patches, another with four-sided patches, and a third with five-sided patches. I was interested in the reflections generated by circular tracks with different cross sections.
Moebius (2.6MB)
This is an animation of some wheels traversing the surface of a mobius track. The camera and hand-wheel locations are fixed. The illusion of the track twisting on itself is achieved by rotating the track around the z-axis.
DOHC v8 (1.5MB)

This is an animation of a purely imaginary DOHC v8 engine. If it were to be built it should run as the valve and ignition timing are pretty conventional. Of course, the addition of a block and heads would improve the compression ratio considerably. Also, the addition of fuel, exhaust, cooling, and lubrication systems would also provide some benefit. It also needs some sort of structure to keep it off the street.

Mt. Ranier fly-over (988kB)
The animation was made by having the camera follow a polyline snapped to the surface of a TurboCAD model. The polyline was then raised vertically to get the camera out of the dirt. The TurboCAD model is a set of meshes made from USGS DEMs (Digital Elevation Models).
Planetary, Helical, Gear Set (2.8MB)
The first third of the animation is with the ring gear locked. The next third locks the planetary gears' position. The final third of the animation locks the sun gear.
