Bug Watch

As with every new software release, there are some issues in TurboCAD V9 that either work differently or just flat out don’t work.

Switching between wire frame and rendered views.
In V9 it is possible to create and manipulate 3D objects in rendered mode. This new feature greatly enhances the ability to work with 3D objects. In earlier versions of TurboCAD it was not possible to edit objects in anything but wire frame view. So the accepted method of returning from rendered view to wire frame was to press the Esc key but this is no longer possible in V9 as the Esc key is required for use in the editing tools which are now available in rendered mode. So you now actually have to switch back to wire frame view by clicking the wire frame ‘tea cup’, either from the new right-click local popup menu or from the normal interface. Once you get used to the new method you will be thankful for the new functionality.

Importing from FloorPlan v7 into V9 Pro
The Print Space Maker in TurboCAD Pro v9 is not working correctly, at least it wasn’t when we tried to import the FloorPlan drawing from the CADCourse House Plan tutorials. We found that only the model space is bought in semi-correctly as a TurboCAD Drawing. Anything created in paper space appears to lack scale or dimension settings. The problem appears within the Print Space Maker itself when inserting floor plans or elevations. When the drawing is eventually brought into TurboCAD the Viewports have no scale or layers. The model space also behaved erratically with spurious lines stretching way into outer space – or at least till Texas. Moral of the story is beware of the Print Space Maker when importing the CADCourse House Plan BMF drawing! You will eventually be able to get the drawing into TC but not without jumping thru many loops to get there. Hopefully we will see a fix on this one in the first maintenance release.
